Elite Amateur Cup
August 21, 2022
Launched this year, the Elite Amateur Golf Series (EAGS) aligns seven of the top amateur events to provide opportunities for the best amateur golfers to compete at the highest level. After seven weeks of elite men’s amateur summer competitions the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) points system was used to determine the top 5 finishers who earned exemptions into USGA Championships, PGA Tour, and Korn Ferry Tour events. The first place amateur also received a hand sculpted trophy by renowned sculptor Malcolm DeMille.
Malcolm DeMille, an artisan known for crafting many PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, LPGA, and Korn Ferry trophies and gifts, was approached to create a trophy for the Elite Amateur Cup. Malcolm DeMille took the Elite Amateur Cup logo and brought it to life creating a 9.5” tall nickel-plated cup that features crisp modern handles and legs set atop a 4.25” tall base. This sleek trophy is a picture-perfect interpretation of the event logo, and celebrates the hard work of its champion.
The top five amateurs of the Elite Amateur Cup were announced last week, with Caleb Surratt from Indian Trail, N.C. taking 1st place. The team at Malcolm DeMille would like to congratulate Caleb Surratt on his great achievement, and acknowledge all the hard work and play by the elite amateurs. And a special thanks to Steve Prioletti (Director, Amateur Competitions, Western Golf Association, Evans Scholars Foundation) and Andy Priest (Executive Director, Southern Golf Association) for trusting Malcolm DeMille to create a trophy that would honor the significance and guidance created by the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
