October 13, 2021
Renowned artist and sculptor Malcolm DeMille, known for creating many of the PGA Tour trophies; Sanderson Farms Championship, Wells Fargo Championship, Valero Texas Open, and more, continues to push creative boundaries with his newest work of art for the Air Force Association. The AFA commissioned Malcolm DeMille to breathe new life into their award named for General Jerome F. O’Malley former Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force and pioneer of the United States Air Force Space Command.
The General Jerome F. O’Malley Space Visionary Award honors leaders who rise and meet challenges through taking risks, innovation, and deliver support to the expanding and unparalleled capabilities of the US Space Command. With a unique opportunity to design a trophy with the influence of space and to honor those who serve, Malcolm DeMille crafted a stunning bronze work of art standing at an impressive 35 inches tall. A hand sculpted and painted Earth pulls in one’s attention and is surrounded by three rhodium plated true to life orbits—Molniya, Tundra, and Equator. The sculpture sets atop a granite stone base adorned with four Sculpted Space Force logos, and 2” medallions featuring the trophy with names and years of past recipients.
Along with being honored with the General Jerome F. O’Malley Space Visionary Award, honorees will receive a handcrafted medal by Malcolm DeMille. The 2” nickel-plated medals hang from a blue ribbon, and feature a portrait of General Jerome F. O’Malley on one side, and a 2D image of the trophy on the reverse with the recipient’s name.
